Elegy by R.Wagner
I am quite confident that it will take more time to you to read these two lines than to play this piece.
Mystery of geniuses, 13 bars (started around 1858 and completed in 1882), written between two giants like Tristan und Isolde and Parsifal, you listen to them and they don’t let you anymore, so deep and intense they are.
Cosima Wagner reports that the night before he died, the Maestro played on the piano this piece, likely his last musical thought. A curiosity: Wagner completed the Elegy at the Palazzo of Prince Gangi in Palermo and Mario Gangi was my beloved teacher at the Conservatory in Rome! Not the same person, but yet, I am proud of it!
